ABOUT

The Administrative Specialist for Workforce Development will aid in connecting students with internships, job shadowing, community service, and part-time job opportunities that offer valuable work experiences in a professional environment.  In addition to career preparation activities in the workplace the Administrative Specialist for Workforce Development will offer other opportunities on the Work Based Learning Continuum including career speakers, mentor luncheons, field trips, mock interviews, career readiness workshops, among other activities, to students who want to explore a variety of career fields.

12th Grade students in the Cooperative Marketing Management Program will be provided with a workshop on developing Resumes and Interviewing Skills.
CMM (NHS) Mock Interviews (September 13, 2019)

12th Grade Students in the Cooperative Marketing Management Program will participate in Mock Interviews conducted by industry professionals to work on professional dress, presenting their resume, and developing their interviewing skills.

BPA Networking Workshop (September 16, 2019)

11th Grade students in the Business Management Program will participate in a Networking workshop to learn more about building a professional network and selling their individual skill sets to professionals and future employers.

Culinary Arts Career Exploration Field Trip (Nestle) (September 17, 2019)
Students in the Culinary Arts program will be attending a field trip to Nestle to learn more about the business operations and the careers available to them. 
BPA Mentor Breakfast (September 20, 2019)

11th Grade Students in the Business Management Program participate in a Mentor Breakfast where they will have the opportunity to meet with local professionals in a variety of different business pathways.

12th Grade students from the Carpentry program will visit the Joint Apprentice Program for a career day visit.

12th Grade Students in the Digital Media Creative Arts program will attend a mentor luncheon to network with industry professionals in the media arts pathway.

Shiloh Middle School Career Speaker Series (October 22-24, 2019)

The Shiloh Middle School Career Speaker Series will be a 3 day event where 7th graders during their learning lab periods will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of different careers from industry professionals who will be coming in to showcase their career path.  Each 7th grade student will hear from two different career speakers over the three day period.  Our goal is to expose students to a multitude of career paths and get them thinking about their future career goals at a young age.  

Shiloh Middle School CTE Fair (October 25, 2019)

The Shiloh Middle School CTE Fair is an event where students from our Career and Technical Education programs visit Shiloh Middle School to showcase their program and show them all of the wonderful things our programs have to offer including college credits, internships, and industry certifications.  

Engineering NASA Manufacturing Day (October 29, 2019)

12th Grade Engineering students will visit NASA for their Annual Manufacturing Day.

Dental Mentor Luncheon (October 30, 2019)

12th Grade Students in the Dental Technologies Program will attend a mentor luncheon to network with industry professionals in the dental pathway. 

Engineering CSU Visit (October 31, 2019)

11th Grade Engineering students from both Valley Forge and Parma Senior will be attending a college visit to Cleveland State to learn about their Engineering program. 

Medical Mentor Breakfast (November 6, 2019)

12th Grade students from one of our 4 medical pathways will attend a breakfast and network with a variety of different industry professionals from the specific pathway students are enrolled in. 

Ohio School Board Student Fair (November 11, 2019)

Culinary students will attend the Ohio School Board Student Fair in Columbus, OH to promote their program.

BPA CSU Accounting Day (November 13, 2019)

11th Grade BPA students will attend the annual Ohio CPA’s Accounting Day at Cleveland State University. 

Engineering CSU Visit (November 14, 2019)

11th Grade Engineering students from Normandy will be attending a college visit to Cleveland State to learn about their Engineering program. 

Engineering SPARK Event (November 15, 2019)

Female 8th Grade Students from the Engineering Pathway will attend the SPARK Women go Red for STEM event at Tri-C Western Campus.

Young Entrepreneurs Day (March 7, 2020)

On Saturday, March 7, 2020 students in grades 3-6 who have registered to participate in Young Entrepreneurs Day will compete for cash and prizes by showcasing their business ideas to a panel of judges.  Students have worked through an online curriculum and built business plan boards that outline their budget, marketing plan, target market, their business name/logo, etc.  This event is sponsored by University Hospitals Parma Medical Center
